The invention relates to a folding device for forming corners in cardboard boxes. The invention is designed such that it can be adapted to the shape and size of the box and the reinforcing columns to be formed. The inventive device essentially comprises a motor element which rotates a pivoting arm in order to fold parts of the cardboard box. The pivoting arm performs a combined simultaneous rotary and axial movement with the rotation of a cylindrical shaft which is secured to thereto, such that a central segment of said shaft is coupled in the cavity of a main support. The motor element is coupled to an elongated support. The invention is characterised in that the elongated support (16) is removably and adjustably associated with a lateral part (18) which is solidly connected to the assembly of a box-forming machine. The invention is also characterised in that the pivoting arm can be removed and in that said arm is equipped with removable, adjustable parts that can move in relation to one another.
