PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus provided with a positioning means directly positioned on a jump base that always maintains a positional relation between a skimming-through position and platen rollers over a whole main scanning range so as to prevent the occurrence of a defective image because the positional relation influences the occurrence of stripes, fogging, and blur or the like. SOLUTION: The image reading apparatus with an original automatic feeder is provided, which includes the positioning means positioned at the jump base and a means for moving also in XY directions located to an opening/closing hinge mechanism.
