APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CREATING ROAD SURFACE IMAGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a technique of reproducing a road surface expressed by drawn curving lines by using a road surface image expressed by drawn curving lines. SOLUTION: An apparatus for creating the road surface image is provided with: a vehicle which travels on the road surface; a means for measuring a travel distance of the vehicle; an in-vehicle line camera which photographs the road surface through a viewing field being made long in the width direction of the vehicle and narrow in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle; a means for storing photograph data obtained by photographing using the line camera at every time when the vehicle travels along a distance actually equal to the width of the viewing field in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle; a means for determining a position of the viewing field of the line camera at a timing when the photograph data is stored; and a means for outputting the road surface image expanding in the form of a plane, based on the determined position of the viewing field and the stored photograph data.
