952,206. Fuel cells. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Sept. 29, 1961 [Oct. 17, 1960], No. 35552/60. Heading H1B. In a hydrogen/oxygen fuel cell, hydrogen is circulated by blower 6 under thermostatic control 2 to cool the cell 1 and condense water vapour. The differential pressure of the hydrogen/electrolyte is detected (at 19) and is used to control the circulation of the condensate either to waste container 30 or back to the cell, thus keeping the electrolyte strength constant. The actual discharge of condensate takes place intermittently from the container, the water level being maintained between predetermined upper and lower limits under control of a detector 33. Specification 822,086 is referred to. |
