PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire having an asymmetrical tread pattern with the groove area ratio being different between the right and left areas of a tread surface, which is capable of reducing the value of conicity and improving the steering wheel flow of a vehicle while maintaining the high-speed durability, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: In the pneumatic tire having an asymmetrical pattern with the groove area ratio being different between right and left areas 1A, 1B of the tire center line CL on a tread surface 1, the tension of a reinforcing cord f of a belt cover layer 13 located in the area 1B of the high groove area ratio is set to be higher than the tension of a reinforcing cord f of a belt cover layer 12 located in the rear 1A of the low groove area ratio.
