摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing gap adjustment mechanism which is inexpensive and can eliminate a position detection sensor for controlling the driving portion of the processing gap adjustment mechanism, and a processing gap adjustment method and a printing device. SOLUTION: The processing gap adjustment mechanism is provided with carriage shafts 52 and 53 extended along a paper width direction and horizontally movable in the direction intersecting a platen surface 91a at right angles, a carriage 13 supported by the carriage shafts 52 and 53 and movable in the paper width direction, a carriage driving mechanism 50 to drive the carriage 13 in the paper width direction, a position detection sensor to detect the amount of movement of the carriage 13 in the paper width direction, a carriage shaft driving mechanism 51 to parallelly move the carriage shafts 52 and 53 in the direction intersecting the platen surface 91a at right angles and vary the gap between the platen surface 91a and a recording head, and a carriage interlocking mechanism 90 to move the carriage 13 in the paper width direction, in conjunction with the action of a carriage shaft driving mechanism 51. The processing gap adjustment mechanism drives and controls the carriage shaft driving mechanism 51 in accordance with the detection signal of the position detection sensor.
