PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a key and lock device for a game machine which effectively prevents the fraudulent act of opening a door, is easy to structure and exhibits a high securing performance. SOLUTION: The key and lock device is provided with a plurality of light-emitting bodies (81a, 81b and 81c) and a plurality of light receiving bodies (82a, 82b and 82c) in a lock body (70), and the insertion portion (7A) of the key body (7) in a translucent portion (84) which transmits light of at least one of the light-emitting bodies and never transmit the light of all the light-emitting bodies when the key is inserted up to a predetermined unlocking position in a key insertion portion (76). A control portion (100) operates an unlocking device (90) when a light reception sensing pattern in which the light-receiving bodies sense light transmitting the translucent portion agrees with a predetermined light reception pattern with the key inserted up to the unlocking position in the predetermined key insertion portion.
