The method involves detecting a relative speed of a pedestrian with a vehicle, before the collision by a sensor device (10), and a force effect of the pedestrian on the vehicle, during the collision by a sensor device (20). A weight/ brawniness characteristic measurement of the pedestrian is estimated based on the speed and effect. The pedestrian is recognized as a preset object type, when the measurement lies within a preset range. An independent claim is also included for a device for executing a method for recognizing a pedestrian, comprising sensor devices. |
