917,748. Crank-shafts. GOTAVERKEN A.B. June 22, 1961 [June 30, 1960], No. 22700/61. Class 80 (2). [Also in Group XXVII] A crank-shaft for a ten-cylinder, two-stroke I.C. engine with the cylinders in line and having an intermediate member containing the transmission to a cam-shaft or the like in the middle of the line, is characterized in that two adjacent cranks within each engine half are displaced at least 72 degrees in relation to each other and that the crank-shaft is so arranged that the firing order of the engine is 1-8-5-6-3-10-2-7- 4-9. The angle between the crank-arms pertaining to the cylinders to each side of the intermediate member is only 36 degrees, so that the impulses from these cylinders occur in rapid succession, but the detrimental effect of this is avoided by the provision of two crank-shaft bearings between these two cylinders. |
