The device has a sealed recipient (12) containing a liquid (13) to be evaporated at the time of contact with a hot surface (11) supporting bars of a laser diode. The recipient has cold surfaces (14) for condensing the vapor and returning the condensed vapor in to a base of the recipient. The cold surfaces are cooled by Peltier units (15, 16) whose hot surfaces are cooled by air through fins (17, 18).
