A drive of round-knitting machine has electric motor, V-belt transmission, its driving pulley is connected to the shaft of the electric motor, and toothed gearing with the drive pinion installed on the intermediate shaft coaxially with respect to the driven pulley of the V-belt transmission. The gear wheel is installed on the vertical drive shaft at the ends of which cylindrical pinions are rigidly fixed. Additionally the drive is equipped with flat spiral spring with its inner end rigidly connected to the shaft of the electric motor, and the outer end rigidly connected to the driving pulley of the V-belt transmission, and brake installed on the shaft of the electric motor at the end opposite to the driving pulley.
