PROCESS FOR DIAGNOSIS OF DIABETIC CARDIOMYOPATHY IN PATIENTS WITH DIABETES MELLITUS TYPE I

The process for the diagnosis of the diabetic cardiomyopathy in the patients with diabetes mellitus type I comprises Doppler echocardiography with the assessment of the myocardial function. The diastolic function is assessed, namely the following parameters are measured: isovolumic relaxation time (IVRT), ratio between the maximal rate of the early diastolic flow (Vmax Peak E) and the flow rate specified by the auricular systole (Vmax Peak A), and the phase of the slow diastolic filling (DT). The alteration of one of these parameters relative to the corresponding normal values is indicative of the diabetic cardiomyopathy.
