PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an advantageous method to manufacture foams relating to a continuous slabstock shaping method, and an apparatus used for the method. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing foams comprises the steps of (a) measuring an actual height profile of foams in a transverse direction to a feed direction of a foam producing mixture, (b) deciding a correcting variable for the slabstock shaping method based on a deviation of the actual foam height profile from the desired foam height profile, and (c) adjusting at least one treatment parameter in case the actual foam height profile is different from the desired foam height profile. The apparatus has a sensor to detect the actual foam height and a means to decide the correcting variable of the slabstock shaping method based on the deviation of the actual foam height from the desired foam height.
