PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser module having appropriate selection precision in an output light wavelength, to provide an optical communication device, to provide a control unit of the laser module, to provide control data of the laser module, and to provide a wavelength control method of an external resonance type laser. SOLUTION: The laser module 100 comprises an optical amplifier 1 for amplifying light; a first etalon 3 for transmitting light from the optical amplifier 1 and allowing light from the optical amplifier 1 to have a periodical wavelength peak; and a wavelength selection mirror 4 having relatively high reflection intensity for a wavelength at one portion of an effective gain band that the optical amplifier 1 has. Light is amplified by the optical amplifier 1, light from the optical amplifier 1 is allowed to have a periodical wavelength peak by the first etalon 3, and the wavelength of one portion of the effective gain band is reflected by the wavelength selection mirror 4.
