PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to grasp a waiting time and the number of sheets of printing under a small processing load in a communication system including a host device and a job processing device.

SOLUTION: A job processing device 4 assigns, in order, serial numbers JOB IDs corresponding to the number of volumes of jobs to be received from a host device 2 to detect the serial number of the job under processing as under processing number CURRENT JOB ID. The processing device 4 then transmits the top number JOB2_ID0of the serial numbers assigned to the job and the under processing number CURRENT JOB ID to the host device 2. The host device 2 calculates a waiting time from the top number JOB2_ID0and the under processing number CURRENT JOB ID to display it on a display device.
