PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method with which a cycloalkyl alkyl ether can be produced stably for a long period in high yield and selectivity even in a reactor on an industrial scale. SOLUTION: The method for producing the cycloalkyl alkyl ether is carried out by subjecting an alicyclic olefin and an alcohol (1) to an addition reaction in the presence of a cation exchange resin using a fixed bed flow type reactor. In the method, pre-treating steps composed of the following steps are carried out in the order of (a) to (c). (a) A step of filling the reactor with the cation exchange resin in a state wetted with water before the addition reaction and forming a catalyst bed, (b) a step of feeding an alcohol (2) to the catalyst bed, replacing the water therewith and removing the water and (c) a step of feeding an inert gas to the catalyst bed after the step (b) and replacing the alcohol therewith and removing the alcohol (2).
