PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for treating shredder dust which can separate thinly cut strips from a mixture of heavy liquid with the thinly cut strips generated from shredder dust, or separate fibrous chips and sand and earth together with water from a mixture of water with shredder dust. SOLUTION: The mixture of heavy liquid with the thinly cut strips generated from shredder dust is charged onto a curved and tilted wedge wire screen 12 wherein multiple wedge wires are horizontally disposed in parallel with small spaces with end part reduced in width downward, and the vertical section is continuously or stepwise curved downward. Heavy liquid in the mixture is passed through the wedge wire screen 12 to its lower side, and the thinly cut strips in the mixture are accelerated with the heavy liquid and gravity and pass on the surface of the wedge wire screen 12 to be separated.
