A superconducting thin film material (1) includes a first superconducting th in film (1a) to which surface smoothing process is performed, and a second superconducting thin film (1b) formed on a surface of the first superconducting thin film (1a) to which the smoothing process is performed. A superconducting wire rod (10) includes a substrate (2), an intermediate laye r (3) formed on the substrate (2), and a superconducting layer (4) formed on t he intermediate layer (3), and the superconducting layer (4) is composed of the superconducting thin film material (1). A method for manufacturing the superconducting thin film material (1) and a method for manufacturing the superconducting wire rod (10) are also provided.
