PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a disk recording/reproducing device loaded with an HDD and a DVD recorder automatically perform the backup of specific important data of the HDD to the DVD recorder (or a DVD disk for each user), by only modifying a part of a control circuit and software for the control. SOLUTION: The disk recording/reproducing device provided with the HDD 3 and the DVD recorder 4 for recording/reproducing the digital data is provided with the disk control circuit 2 for controlling the HDD and the DVD recorder, an arithmetic unit 1 having a CPU, an external interface, and a memory, and a file system consisting of data information in the HDD and file management information. When a specific file is read out from the HDD 3, the disk control circuit 2 detects that the number of accessing times to the specific file reaches a specified number of times, on the basis of the information from the file system. According to the detection, the arithmetic unit 1 performs the backup of the data of the specific file recorded on the HDD 3 to the DVD recorder 4. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
