PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector that can improve positioning accuracy around an axis when an optical plug is connected and that can also ensure connection work efficiency. SOLUTION: The optical connector is composed of an optical plug which is provided with a ferrule for holding an optical fiber, a tubular frame in which the ferrule is housed, and a projection part arranged at the outer periphery of the frame, and composed of an optical adaptor which is provided with a housing, an engaging part where the projection can be inserted into and held at the end face of the housing, and a split sleeve stored in the housing. The engaging part is made a slit continued from one end to the other end of the housing, and a part where the width of the engaging part is narrower than that of the projection part is provided to the optical connector.
