The incubator (31) is assembled of a base (32) and a transparent hood (33) with a large flap (36) at the front for inserting the child and for bigger operations. Two openings (42) to be closed with doors (44) on lateral hinges are integrated in the flap (36) and can be used for minor operations. The small doors (44) are provided with sealing units (47). The flap (36) is double-walled, facilitating the build-up of a curtain of warm and clean air (34) as long as the doors (44) are open.
