<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new optical compensation sheet having performance of enlarging a viewing angle. <P>SOLUTION: An optical anisotropic layer on a support contains a liquid crystal compound and at least one compound expressed by general formula (I):(Rf-Y-)<SB>n</SB>Ar(-L-W)<SB>p</SB>. In formula (I), Ar represents an aromatic heterocycle or aromatic hydrocarbon ring; n represents an integer 1 to 4; p represents 1 or 2; Y represents a single bond or divalent linkage group; Rf represents an alkyl group with substitution of a fluorine atom; L represents a single bond or divalent linkage group; W represents a hydrogen bond group selected from the followings or combinations thereof: -SO<SB>2</SB>-R<SP>1</SP>, -SO<SB>2</SB>NR<SP>1</SP>R<SP>2</SP>, -SO<SB>2</SB>NR<SP>1</SP>SO<SB>2</SB>-R<SP>2</SP>, -SO<SB>2</SB>NR<SP>1</SP>CO-R<SP>2</SP>, -CONR<SP>1</SP>R<SP>2</SP>, -CONR<SP>1</SP>SO<SB>2</SB>-R<SP>2</SP>, -CONR<SP>1</SP>CO-R<SP>2</SP>, -NR<SP>1</SP>SO<SB>2</SB>-R<SP>2</SP>, -NR<SP>1</SP>CO-R<SP>2</SP>, -NR<SP>1</SP>SO<SB>2</SB>NR<SP>2</SP>R<SP>3</SP>, -NR<SP>1</SP>CONR<SP>2</SP>R<SP>3</SP>, and -OCONR<SP>1</SP>R<SP>2</SP>; and R<SP>1</SP>to R<SP>3</SP>independently represent a hydrogen atom or alkyl group, aryl group or heterocyclic group which may be substituted. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
