<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus, a method and a program for recognizing indicating action capable of accurately specifying an indicated position irrespective of a user's indicating attitude. <P>SOLUTION: To recognize the indicating action performed by the user on an image displayed on a display 14, images of the user are picked up from a plurality of different directions by means of video cameras 20A, 20B, and a virtual screen of a given size is provided in a direction in which the user can indicate the virtual screen by means of a predetermined part according to the images picked up by the picking up, the virtual screen corresponding to the display area of the display 14. Based on the picked-up images, a control part 16 specifies a position indicated by the user on the virtual screen.
