PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image type vehicle detector for reducing an operation in an installation place at the time of installation. SOLUTION: The image type vehicle detector is provided with a day/night deciding part 7, daytime processing part 8 and night processing part 9 for detecting a vehicle projected on a photographic image by analyzing a video signal photographed by a camera 1, a video file generating part 4 for generating a video file from the video signal, a clock part 5 for clocking dates and hours and a memory part 6 for recording a preliminarily set threshold and verification date and hour and the video file generated by the video file generating part 4. When the date and hour clocked by the clock part 5 reaches the verification date and hour, the video file is generated by the video file generating part 4, and traffic information generated by verifying the video file and the video signal is recorded in the memory part 6 as data for verification. Thus, it is possible to read the video file recorded as data for verification from the memory 6 for verifying it afterwards.
