PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique to make a satisfactory image obtainable even in image formation employing art of any of a sequential development/sequential fixing system and a sequential development/batch fixing system by elucidating the fixing conditions to prevent an image defect and fixing defect from arising when the image is formed by simultaneously using a plurality of flash fixing color toners. SOLUTION: The image forming method comprises performing image formation by using the flash fixing color toners containing at least binder resins, colorants and IR absorbents. The method includes the flash fixing process in which the PAS intensity S<SB>Z</SB>of the toner forming the toner layer of the arbitrary Z-th layer and the concealment degree C<SB>Z</SB>of the toner image satisfies the relational expressions (7): S<SB>Z-1</SB>≤S<SB>Z</SB>and C<SB>Z-1</SB>≤C<SB>Z</SB>, when the n layers of the toner layers formed on a recording medium are sequenced as lst to n-th layers successively from the toner layer in proximity to the recording medium.
