PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for resolving both amplitude and timing fluctuations of a signal. SOLUTION: The problem can be solved by a system or the like for characterizing amplitude and timing attributes of a signal including the steps of: determining an uncorrelated component of the signal; determining a correlated component of the signal; and creating a statistical model of the signal based on the uncorrelated component and the correlated component of the signal.
