PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microscope device capable of irradiating a specimen with a laser beam of a weak light output by continuously varying the laser beam by a simple configuration. SOLUTION: The microscope device 1 has a semiconductor laser 4 for exiting a laser beam, irradiates a specimen 10 with the laser beam, and observes fluorescence emitted by the specimen 10. The microscope device 1 includes: a control section 2 for variably controlling the light output of the laser beam within a laser oscillation area; an ND filter 5 for gradually attenuating the output light from the semiconductor laser 4. The light output with which the specimen 10 is irradiated is continuously varied by transmitting it through the ND filter 5 by a combination of the variable control of the light output by the control section 2 and the attenuation of the light output by the ND filter 5.
