PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a running board device capable of protecting a drive means from mud or water or the like. SOLUTION: The step device is equipped with a running board body which can advance and retreat between a projection position projecting from the side surface of a vehicle body to the outside and a retreated position retreated from the side surface of the vehicle body to the inside, and a drive means 2 driving advancing/retreating of the running board body. The step device is equipped with a protective cover 22 having a cover part 24 covering a mounting part 23 capable of mounting the drive means 2 and the periphery of the drive means 2.
