<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal recording medium which is excellent in recording sensitivity, image quality and water resistance and further has good printing running properties (head dregs, stick). <P>SOLUTION: The thermal recording medium has a constitution wherein an undercoat layer containing a pigment and a binder as main constituents and a thermal recording layer containing a colorless or light-colored electron-donating leuco dye and an electron-accepting developer as main constituents are provided on a substrate.
