PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image input apparatus (a digital camera) in which an optical system including an imaging device can be downsized without degrading the image quality and further which can be downsized. SOLUTION: The image input apparatus includes: a photographing optical system (mirror barrel unit 20) for forming an object image in a prescribed position; an imaging means (imaging device 25) for converting the object image into electronic data as a nearly rectangular object image; and an image processing means (image processing section 27) for processing the object image electronic data from the imaging means to form image data, and the image processing means is configured to delete the four corners of the rectangular image data in the object image electronic data.
