PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a swimming race photographing system and the like wherein a video image of a swimmer at the time of goal or the like can be automatically photographed. SOLUTION: After the standby end of a mask time (S111), a controller discriminates whether or not the approach of a swimmer is detected (S113). If it is discriminated that the approach of the swimmer is detected, the controller supplies a photographing starting instruction to a high-speed video manipulator (S114). After the start of photographing, the controller starts to measure a fixed time (S115) and discriminates whether the goal of the swimmer is detected during the measurement of the time (S116). If it is discriminated that the goal of the swimmer is not detected, the controller notifies the occurrence of a soft touch (S117).
