<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a defect inspection device and a PTP packing machine capable of enhancing inspection precision, in particular, for a pocket part side, to enhance visual appearance quality of a PTP sheet, in defect inspection in a manufacturing process for the PTP sheet. <P>SOLUTION: This defect inspection device 21 is used in a prestage for attaching a sealing film 4 to close a pocket part, after a tablet is stored in the pocket part formed in a conveyed container film 3. The defect inspection device 21 is provided with a lighting device 22 with a light source, a camera 23 capable of imaging transmission light transmitted through the tablet, and an image processor 24 for processing an image signal output from the camera 23. The lighting device 22 is provided in an opening side of the pocket part in the container film 3, and the camera 23 is provided in an opposite side of the lighting device 22 via the container film 3.
