<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent substance capable of being excited by a near UV ray-a blue-violet ray, further excited by a near UV ray-a blue ray and showing high brightness. <P>SOLUTION: The fluorescent substance comprises a base crystal composed of a compound represented by a formula: M<SP>1</SP><SB>a</SB>M<SP>2</SP><SB>b</SB>N<SB>c</SB>äwherein M<SP>1</SP>is one or more kinds of element selected from the group consisting of Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba and Zn; M<SP>2</SP>is one or more kinds of element selected from the group consisting of Al, Ga and In and c=(2a/3)+b, 0<a and 0<b} and one or more kinds selected from a group consisted of rare earth metals, Zn and Mn as an activator (provided that when M<SP>1</SP>contains Zn, Zn as the activator is not contained therein). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
