<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that deters a unit (scanner section) from vigorously opening and then deters the unit etc., from being broken, without forcing the user to follow troublesome operation procedures or increasing the cost of the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: As representative constitution, this image forming apparatus has a printer section 2, having an image forming portion which forms an image on a recording material and the scanner section 1, fitted to the printer section 2 in an openable/closable state and is provided with a pop-up spring 34, between the printer section 2 and the scanner section 1, which energizes the scanner section 1 in an opening direction and a scissor screen unit 100, which brakes the movement of the scanner section 1 in the opening direction, when a manual energizing force to the scanner section 1 in the opening direction disappears, while allowing the scanner section 1 to be moved manually in the opening direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
