PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera body by which photography is allowed without performing release lock even in combination with an interchangeable lens which does not correspond to new communication and information about a failure is received from an interchangeable lens corresponding to the new communication by the new communication in combination with an interchangeable lens and in which an influence to the photography by the failure of the interchangeable lens is minimized. SOLUTION: The camera body is constituted so as not to transmit a release lock request to an old camera according to a degree of the failure by failure discrimination and to communicate failure information to a new camera by providing an interchangeable lens with a camera discrimination means and a failure discrimination means. In addition, a user is enabled to set that the release lock request is disregarded even when the old lens transmits the release lock request, failure information communication is performed to receive the failure information and an operation of the camera is changed according to the failure in the case of the new lens by providing the camera body with an interchangeable lens discrimination means.
