PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressure roller which has superior paper feeding performance and fixing performance. SOLUTION: The pressure roller includes a metallic shaft (10), an elastic rubber layer (11) provided around it, and a fluorocarbon resin tube (12) provided around the elastic rubber layer. The elastic rubber layer (11) is formed of an elastic rubber layer, including many foams or circular openings. Further, the inside diameter of the fluorocarbon resin tube (12) is made smaller than the outside diameter of the elastic rubber layer and the length of the elastic rubber layer along the roller axis is set larger than the length of the fluorocarbon resin carbon resin along the roller axis to directly expose the outer circumferential surface of the elastic rubber layer, at both ends along the axis of the pressure roller. Since silicone rubber, containing foams or circular openings, has much smaller elastic repulsion than that of the dense silicone rubber, so a large nip width is obtained, even with a weak pressing force. Further, larger frictional forces are obtained at both ends of the roller because of a direct press-contact of a heat roller with the silicone rubber, thereby the fixing performance and paper feed performance are improved.
