PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device capable of safely supplying support information on the operation of a vehicle. SOLUTION: The image display device is provided with a first display means (HMD) having an eye-contact optical system arranged at a front of at least any one of eyes of a user and in the device, an optical image in a visual field of the user and operation assistance image information are led to the eye of the user through the first display means by diffraction reflection. The device is provided with a detection means (traveling state detection part) for detecting the traveling state of the vehicle ridden with the user; and a control means (control part) for switching the form of the operation assistance image information displayed on the first display means according to the traveling state of the vehicle based on the detection signal from the detection means.
