The present invention provides a process for modifying a metal oxysulfide compound comprising metal oxide layers separated by metal sulfide layers, wherein the metal sulfide layers comprise at least one metal selected from copper and lithium, the process comprising contacting the compound with lithium ions under conditions such that lithium is inserted into or extruded from the compound. The disclosed metal oxysulfide compounds may be useful as electrodes and thermoelectric materials. |
