The branch pipe connection, e.g. for linking a high-pressure fuel container to a diesel engine, has the branch pipe (2) fitted through a hole (1-2) in the wall of the container (1) so that it projects beyond the inner surface of the wall into an inner flow passage. The length of the projecting end (2-3) of the branch pipe is not less than the thickness of the branch pipe wall. In variants of the design the branch pipe can have a thickened external portion adjacent to the joint, either integral with the branch pipe or attached to it, and the hole through the container wall can be conical in shape, broadening towards the wall's inner surface. The branch pipe can be fixed in place by pressure, contraction before fitting, brazing or diffusion. |
