A combustion control device which can use a low-capability microcomputer in a sub-control device and is higher in safety than a conventional one, and which is an improvement over a combustion control device built in a hot water heater or the like comprising a main control device and a sub-control device. Signals for recognizing the operating status of a combustion device are input in parallel to a main control device (35) and a sub-control device (36). The main control device (35) and the sub-control device (36) output stop signals when a specified stop condition is met to cut off power supply to an equipment drive circuit (42). A stop condition for the sub-control device (36) to output a stop signal is more lenient than that for the main control device (35) to output a stop signal.
