PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and appropriately perform the setting of printing by presenting advice information necessary for forming the image of an original to a user before the setting of printing by the user.

SOLUTION: Before the user performs the setting of printing by using a control panel 18, an original 22 is read by an image reading part 11, and the read image data is analyzed by an image analysis part 15, whereby a characteristic value showing the attribute of the original is extracted. An advice presentation part 16 selects advice information corresponding to the extracted characteristic value based on a lookup table stored in an advice information DB 161, and displays the advice information on the display part 181 of an operation display panel 18. When recommendation is provided by every advice, the corresponding characteristic value is composed to obtain priority by every advice, and the advice information is displayed in order of the priority. By referring to the displayed advice information, the user performs the accurate setting of printing.
