The invention relates to a method of producing a synchroniser ring, consisting in: mixing at least two powders selected from (i) a powder of iron particles, a powder of alloy elements and a powder of iron alloys, (ii) a powder of iron alloy particles containing carburigen alloy elements at a concentration of between 1 and 10 % by weight and (iii) a graphite powder at a concentration of less than 1 % by weight; cold compacting the powder mixture in a suitable mould in order to form an internal conical bore (14) which is equipped with axial teeth (16), the tips of said teeth (16) comprising a flat surface (17) with a width of less than 0.2 mm; and strengthening the piece thus obtained by means of sintering at a temperature of less than 1150 °C.
