PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the control unit that can set up more appropriate clamp pressure by reflecting the response when controlling the clamp pressure of a belt driven step-less drive mechanism taking the influence by speed change into consideration. SOLUTION: The belt driven step-less drive mechanism comprises a clamp pressure control means (step S108, S109) to set up the control contents of the above clamp pressure on the basis of the response evaluation means (step S106, S107) to detect and evaluate the response of the control mechanism that controls the clamp pressure to set up the torque capacity of the belt driven step-less drive mechanism and the above evaluated response that is detected and evaluated by its response evaluation means. An evaluation standard change means (step S103 to S105) which makes different the evaluation standard of the above response in the above response evaluation means in case that the above clamp pressure is changed, i.e. to make different the evaluation standard when the speed for the above belt driven step-less drive mechanism is gear changed from when it is not gear changed.
