PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens apparatus making a focal distance indicated by an index match to an actual focal distance when a converter lens is mounted on a lens barrel. SOLUTION: When a bar code 15A on the converter lens side is read by a sensor 63 arranged in the lens barrel, it is judged by a CPU 34 that a standard converter lens 12A is mounted on the lens barrel 14, and then, information on the numerical value of a focal distance corresponding to the standard converter lens 12A stored in a memory 35 is read by the CPU 34, and then, the information is outputted to an LCD driving circuit 62.
