PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an approach alarm device capable of automatically giving an approach alarm when a crane approaches a power cable to a constant distance, and capable of substantially preventing the effect of the electromagnetic field emitted from the power cable. SOLUTION: The approach alarm device comprises a sensor mounted on a crane tip, and a monitoring device arranged in a crane operation room, and the sensor and the monitoring device are connected to each other via an optical fiber. Thus, the approach alarm device is substantially free from the effect of the electromagnetic field emitted from a power cable. An electromagnetic field sensor or a CCD sensor is used for the sensor. In addition, a CCD camera is mounted on the crane tip to visually grasp the situation of the crane tip. A recorder is provided on the monitoring device to record the accident history of alarm information from the sensor, image information from the CCD camera, or the like so as to be useful for the accident analysis.
