The invention relates to a method for shaping at least one workpiece, according to which a) the workpiece ( 10 ) is placed in a shaping position on a first ( 12 ) of at least two tools ( 12, 13 ) of a forming machine, b) the tools ( 12, 13 ) are moved towards each other, c) the workpiece is shaped between the tools, and d) the two tools are then moved away from each other, e) a triggering time is detected when the relative position (x) of the tools ( 12, 13 ) is in or has reached a predefined or predefinable reference position (xR), preferably during the relative movement of the tools towards each other, f) at least one handling device ( 2 ) starts lifting the workpiece ( 10 ) from the first tool ( 12 ) at a specific lifting time, g) the lifting time being selected or determined in accordance with the triggering time. The invention further relates to a device for carrying out said method.
