PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic rating device capable of realizing a low cost with a simple structure needing no exclusive hardware such as exclusive pad or pen, and automatically rating an answer even in a problem to be answered by sentence or pattern by subsidiarily reading an manual rating result. SOLUTION: The automatic rating device for reading and automatically rating an image of an answer sheet containing a problem to be answered by sentence, pattern or the like comprises an identification means identifying right and wrong determination information from the image of the answer sheet read by an image reader and describing the right and wrong determination information for right and wrong determination of the problem to be answered by sentence, pattern or the like which is manually made in advance; and a score calculation means calculating a score from preliminarily registered point allocation information based on the right and wrong determination information identified by the identification means.
