PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoretic light intensity adjusting element making desired light intensity adjustment, and an imaging apparatus. SOLUTION: Columnar translucent sections 9 which transmit light between a transparent substrate 1 and a transparent second substrate 2 arranged to face the first substrate are provided in such a manner that both ends come into contact with the first substrate 1 and the second substrate 2, and three or more electrodes are installed side by side to at least either of the first substrate 1 and the second substrate 2, and thereby, the movable area of the opaque electrophoretic particles 15 is limited, and the controllability of the opaque charged electrophoretic particles 15 is improved.
