PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of displaying images more brightly by prolonging the time for making monochrome light transmitted, when a color wheel becomes usable. SOLUTION: The projector 1 is equipped with a lamp 21 radiating light; the color wheel 30 arranged adjacent to the lamp and transmitting the light radiated from the lamp; and an integrator 60, making the light transmitted through the color wheel incident from an incident port 61 and uniformizing the light. The arranging position of the incident port of the integrator on the color wheel is adjusted so that the center angle of the fan shape of the color wheel large enough to hold the entire incident port of the integrator becomes small.
