PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable broadcast receiver capable of reducing exhaustion of a battery by acquiring program information from each broadcast station and updating the program while an AC power source is connected. SOLUTION: Since a portable broadcast receiver partially receives a broadcast, especially when receiving a digital television broadcast, the receiver can only the program information of a broadcast station being currently received. Connection to an AC power source in charging the battery of the portable broadcast receiver is utilized to sequentially select the channels of the broadcast stations selectable while the AC power source is connected to previously acquire the program information of each of the broadcast stations. Thus, not only the program information can be updated if a user is not watching television but also battery exhaustion due to program information acquisition can be prevented.
